Imaginal Cells by Bryony Ella

I was contacted by Bluman Associates if I would be interested in supplying video operation and Notch design to this 3 day shoot for Bryony Ella.

The main part of the Notch design focused around interactivity with the dancer using a Hokuyo LiDAR mounted above the LED screen, allowing the dancer to interact with the content during key moments of the dance, the other part was a pre-recorded piece of footage that was fed into Notch where image and particle effects were overlaid, this was then shown on the screen for the dancer to react too.

The Notch designs were built around a procedural falloff being generated when the dancer interacted with the screen, this let me apply a falloff to the fluid simulation systems, making the particles burst into life when touched.

For one section of the piece, Bryony wanted a video feedback of the dancer on the screen, so we set up a 2nd camera out of frame pointing at the dancer, keeping part of the hung silks in shot achieved pillars of pattern in the feedback on screen.
